Army Contribution in Jaffna for the Agricultural Revolution

The Army troops in Jaffna initiated a project in accordance with the Government's national drive for an Agricultural Revolution in Sri Lanka under the theme of "Waga Sangramaya".

Accordingly, a "Wap Magul Ceremony" was held on 01 November 2017 at Tiruneveli in Jaffna and the Army provided Tractors and military personnel to the needy families to plough their lands for agricultural purposes.

It was a great relief for the needy people in Tirineveli area to get the assistance of Army personnel and tractors to plough their lands, for cultivation.

Major General Marvyn Perera, General Officer Commanding 51 Division and troops of 511 Brigade organized the "Ceremony of Ploughing" to support needy families in Jaffna District.

Mr. N Vethanayahan, the District Secretary Jaffna, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force Jaffna, Senior Military Officers, Government Officials, Military personnel and civilians witnessed the event.
